Botswana is one of the few countries where safari happens on water as much as on land. Mornings often mean an open vehicle out before the heat sets in. In the Okavango Delta, afternoons can shift to a mokoro or a small boat, slower and quieter, moving through channels a jeep cannot reach. Several camps also run walking safaris with an armed ranger, tracking prints left in the sand a few hours earlier.

There are no long road transfers in northern Botswana. Camps connect by small charter aircraft, and a flight across the delta shows the country in a way no road ever could. Water fanning out into dry land, herds moving in single file, islands that shift with the flood.

May to October is the dry season and the strongest window for game viewing. Inland water disappears, so animals gather at the rivers and pans and become far easier to find. July and August are the peak of it. November to April brings rain, green land, newborn animals, and flamingos at the salt pans. Visa rules depend on your passport and change from time to time.
